Vayu — Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Vayu is an alarm app that asks you to recite the Hanuman Chalisa, verified by your device's camera, before the alarm can be turned off. This page explains, plainly, what information the app uses and what it does with it.

The short version

Everything Vayu needs to work — your alarms, your settings, your camera preview, your recitation count — stays on your own phone. Vayu does not have a server of its own, and does not send this information to us. The only information that leaves your phone is handled by two outside services, described below: Google AdMob (ads on Android) and RevenueCat (subscriptions on iPhone).

Camera

Vayu uses your device's front camera to check that you're present while reciting. This happens entirely on your device, in real time.

Information stored on your device

Vayu stores the following, only on your own phone, using standard app storage:

None of this is linked to your name or sent to us, and we do not share your alarms, settings, camera images, or recitation count with any third party. If you delete Vayu from your phone, this information is deleted with it.

Notifications

Alarm notifications are scheduled directly on your device. Vayu does not use a remote notification server, and does not know when your alarms are set to go off.

Ads (Android only)

The Android version of Vayu is free to use. After the 7-day free trial, it shows ads provided by Google AdMob: a small banner on the home screen, and an occasional full-screen ad after you finish an alarm. The iPhone version does not show ads.

To show and measure ads, Google AdMob may collect and use the following, under Google's own privacy policy:

Google uses this information to serve and personalize ads, measure how ads perform, and prevent fraud. Vayu does not store it. You can read how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

You can limit ad personalization, or reset or delete your advertising ID, in your Android phone's settings (usually under Settings → Privacy → Ads; the exact wording varies by phone).

Payments and subscriptions

On iPhone, subscription payments are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Vayu never sees, collects, or stores your card number or any other payment details. To manage subscriptions, Vayu uses RevenueCat, a service that checks with Apple whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier created by the app, your purchase and subscription status, and basic technical information such as your IP address, and handles it under its own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

On Android, Vayu does not currently charge a subscription. If paid subscriptions are added on Android, they will be handled through Google Play.

What we don't do

Children's privacy

Vayu is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this same page with a new "last updated" date above.
